Saving Sea Turtles is a Marathon, Not a Sprint

Turtle Bio Page

Hi friends! My name is Roseleigh! I’m a juvenile green turtle that was found floating off Islamorada in March where I was unable to dive because of a heavy load of fibropapilloma (FP) tumors AND I was entangled in fishing line. Luckily, I was rescued by some new friends and taken to The Turtle Hospital, where they say I’ve beaten the odds and made a full recovery! The amazing doctors at The Turtle Hospital got to work on my disentanglement, wound care and tumor removal surgeries. I was also set up with broad spectrum antibiotics, fluids, vitamins and a healthy diet of greens and mixed seafood, so I’m good as new! Now that I’m a super strong swimmer, I can’t wait to show off my skills in the Tour de Turtles race! I’m racing to spread the word about Water Quality because so many of my turtle friends at The Turtle Hospital were there because they also suffer from FP tumors, which are thought to be caused by pollution. Make sure to cheer for me and spread the word about my cause!

I was named by my Sponsor, The Turtle Hospital. Check out my marathon migration map, where you can follow along as I swim to raise awareness about the threat of Water Quality to sea turtles. Please help me raise awareness about my cause by supporting me!
